Born and raised in Curitiba, Brazil, Cintia has always been passionate about storytelling. From a young age, she was captivated by the power of visual narratives, though her journey into filmmaking took an unexpected path. In 1997, she moved to New York to pursue a career as a dancer and choreographer, where she developed a keen sense of timing, composition, and movement—skills that would later become invaluable in her filmmaking career.
As she worked on choreographing and producing performances, she found herself drawn to video editing, initially capturing and refining dance footage. What started as a way to document performances quickly turned into a deeper passion for editing, directing, and producing. Seeing how movement, music, and visuals could come together to tell compelling stories, she transitioned fully into filmmaking. Cintia co-founded FILMADAY, a company specialized in short-form (20 to 40 minutes) documentary-like films on days in the lives of NY children, producing 50+ films.
With a sharp eye for detail and a creative vision, Cintia became skilled in assembling raw footage into polished, engaging films, she developed a reputation for delivering high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines. Her expertise spans feature-length documentaries, short-form and full-length videos, and promotional commercials. Over the years, she has taken on multiple roles, including director, producer, editor, and cinematographer, bringing a well-rounded perspective to every project.
Driven by a deep connection to her roots, she returned to the community she grew up in to direct Estamos Aqui (Danken Got) (2014), an award-winning feature-length documentary that sheds light on the powerful history of Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe to Curitiba, Brazil. More recently, she edited Here to Climb (HBO,a Red Bull Media House Production / Break Thru Films. 2024), a thrilling portrait of record-breaking climber Sasha DiGiulian as she pushes her boundaries, overcoming personal attacks and a possible career-ending injury to redefine success on her own terms. With every project, she seeks to craft meaningful narratives that inspire, educate, and connect audiences on a profound level. As a dedicated freelancer, she continues to bring stories to life with her distinctive vision, blending artistry with authenticity in every frame.
